Seminar Series

Our Seminar Series – Truths, Myths and Misconceptions – has proved very popular with IC and IB students alike. Our speakers created highly engaging talks on topics as varied as sleep facts and myths, AI misconceptions and dispelling myths concerning the judicial system. These university seminar style talks provide students on all courses with the opportunity to broaden their awareness of different academic disciplines and points of view.

Study Visits

Study visits form an integral part of all St Clare’s programmes.  This term students have undertaken many visits to support their academic learning, examples include:

  • A talk on The Power of Platforms: Shaping Media and Society at The Oxford Martin School, research institute of University of Oxford
  • A visit to the Oxford Castle and Prison to illustrate and explain the rule of law in Britain and the changes that occurred over time in matters of civil and human rights.
  • Photography students were taken to Oxford city centre to explore elements of composition to help build their portfolio.

Activities

Students have been able to take advantage of many of the activities and attractions in and around Oxford. They have successfully exited an Escape Room, navigated the course in the Minimoto GP, showed their skills in Karaoke and Salsa dancing, braved the cold while ice skating, thrown axes and practiced their swings in Golf.

There was also a trip to Whitby, in the North of England, for a long weekend. They visited the ruins of the abbey, travelled by steam train and ate traditional food by the bay.

Later in the term they will be attending an international football match and getting involved in a local festival of lights.
