Diversity and Inclusion at St. Clare’s
Belonging
At St. Clare’s, we want every member of our community to feel a strong and rewarding sense of belonging. This means that we want everyone to feel comfortable within our school community, able to be themselves and express all parts of their personality and identity, to feel valued for who they are and to feel that their contributions are valued too.
How do we promote belonging at St. Clare’s?
● Global Futures and PSHE programmes
● DEIJ coordinator
● Student Diversity & Inclusion leaders
● Diversity CAS
● A vibrant calendar of events celebrating our cultures and identities
● Staff training, which includes cultural competence and tackling unconscious bias
Respectful discussion
We are a place of education and part of the learning that takes place here is learning about the ideas and experiences of others, and how to talk about ideas respectfully and with kindness, especially when we don’t agree. In line with our mission to advance international education and understanding, we encourage students to discuss their ideas together within boundaries defined by respect and kindness.
Benefits of diversity
We know that a diverse community is a strong community, thanks to the creative and problem-solving capacity that comes from harnessing many different perspectives. We are incredibly lucky to live, study and work at St. Clare’s, where the representation of these diverse perspectives helps us to grow into kinder, more knowledgeable people, better adapted to contribute to the modern world.
Happiness and success!
We recognise that students who are at ease and confidently able to express themselves will be both happier and more successful. Mental effort spent censoring your identity is mental effort wasted!
