Junior CoursesOur exceptional junior summer courses are held at Rye St. Antony School, only a ten minute bus ride away from both St. Clare's main site and Oxford city centre, during the months of July and August. Facilities include classrooms, a dining hall, gymnasium and hall, art and pottery studio, open-air swimming pool, tennis courts, extensive sports fields, beautiful gardens, and residential accommodation. The school and its grounds are enclosed, making it safe for your children. How old
are the students? All courses offer an excellent balance of classroom-based study and exciting action-packed activities. The four language skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing are practised in a variety of situations using lively and interesting up-to-date teaching materials. These courses also include three excursions per week, to many of the celebrated attractions in the south of England. Junior course students (13-16) have 18 hours of English classes per week whilst the young junior programme (10-12) includes slightly fewer hours of classroom work (15 hrs per week) plus a strong timetable of activities - ensuring they are entertained from the moment they wake up to the moment they go to sleep! Traditional study is complemented with activities where children improve their English through songs, games, art, storytelling and puppets. Our teachers are specially selected for their expertise with this age group. Students of this age are also kept under 24 hours supervision, and may not leave the premises unaccompanied at any time. Older students may be allowed some independence on specified afternoons. Students are not allowed out unaccompanied in the evenings.
