St. Clare's was founded in 1953 as
an independent, international college. It was set up to
establish links between British and other European
students after the Second World War, and is a non-profit
making educational charity.
In March 1999 St. Clare's acquired the Oxford Academy, a
well established English language school. St. Clare's is
now the largest private English language provider in
Oxford.
St.
Clare's, Oxford offers courses to up to 400
students throughout the year, except over Christmas, in
three areas:
at pre-university level
(The International
Baccalaureate, pre-IB, University Foundation Year,
