International Baccalaureate Diploma

St. Clare's 25th anniversary of offering the IB Diploma ended with some record IB results.

The average score for IB Diploma students in May 2002 exams was 33.1, and 13.6% (12 out of 88 students) of students gained 40 points or more. These are College records. Over 43% of IB Diploma entrants at St. Clare's obtained 36 or more points, taken, by schools familiar with both systems, as the intellectual equivalent of three A grades at A level.

Darae Ko received the maximum 45 points - a rare distinction. Only 39 students in the world (out of a world Diploma entry of 19,599) obtained the maximum score. This places Darae among the top 0.2% of IB Diploma entrants. This is the third year recently that a student at St.Clare's has obtained 45 points. Last year Miranda Rose, and in 1999 Charlotte Bathe (both local students) also obtained the maximum point score.

Six students obtained 43 points (including Darae's twin sister Narae).

Narae and Darae also obtained grade 7 in a seventh additional subject. They therefore achieved a total of 102 points from 8 Higher level and 6 Standard level subjects.

The percentage of students obtaining the Diploma was 86% (76 out of 88). This will increase as certain students complete the CAS (activities) requirement for the Diploma. (A student who is unable to complete the requirement because of ill health, or for other reasons, may complete it during the summer period).

Other results may also creep up as we await the outcome of certain re-marks currently taking place.
