Assistant
House Manager - Logan House
Background to the post
Logan House, 382 Banbury Road, is a relatively new building providing
superior accommodation for about 47 of our older students of both sexes,
mainly in self-contained flats.
Logan House has been in use since January 1996 and was formally named
and opened by the Rt. Hon. Douglas Hurd MP. It is managed by a House Manager
and an Assistant House Manager, ideally one male and the other female,
who share the evening and weekend duties. As the two managers share the
duties, no relief managers are provided by the College either at weekends
nor during the holidays of either of the managers. The House is occupied
by resident students almost all the year round.
The current House Manager is Rory Kelly, who also teaches at St Clare's
on the International Baccalaureate and English courses.

in the building during all that period. (The exception being in an emergency,
e.g. when a student may need to be accompanied to hospital. Then a senior
student should be nominated to be in charge, if the House Manager is not
in the building.) Other duties will be 182 duty evenings each year, arranged
in conjunction with the House Manager.
Holidays
Subject to the requirements above, other days are regarded as holidays.
Blocks of holiday may be taken only at Christmas and Easter and for no
more than 2 weeks as a block in the summer.
Requirements for applicants
- The flat is suitable for a childless married

which will allow them to communicate effectively, both in written and
oral form with students, their parents, their College colleagues and
the neighbours in this part of "academic" north Oxford.
- The post is not suitable for anyone who has
regular evening or weekend work or has a post, such as full-time teaching

House Manager post. The post is suitable for someone with a full or
part-time day position or someone who does a lot of work from home,
such as a research student.
- Primarily applicants should have the ability
to deal sympathetically with an international group of young adults,

with breaches of house regulations. To have been in a situation dealing
with students of this age range previously would be an advantage.
Because of the nature of the post we are required to undertake a Criminal

also need to be checked and acceptance of this check is a condition of
