Residential Relief Warden
and
Assistant House Manager

Both appointments to commence as soon as possible.

  • The Relief Warden deputises for regular wardens of female or male houses for pre-university students aged 16-19
  • The Assistant House Manager works with a House Manager to run Logan House which houses 47 adult students aged 18+

Both positions involve work principally in the evening and overnight and can be combined with other employment. Accommodation suitable for single people or couples is provided with both positions.

Senior Resident

From mid-late August 2004 (or as soon as possible thereafter)

This is a new position. The post is primarily concerned with 200 residential pre-university students, aged 16-20, drawn from 40 countries, on International Baccalaureate Diploma, English language and Pre-IB courses. The post incorporates four elements:

  • Manager of residential staff in 14 houses for pre-university students
  • Responsibility for quality of certain key elements of residential provision and accommodation
  • As one of a number of Duty Managers, taking responsibility for College premises and students outside regular office hours
  • As a residential house warden for 15-25 students

The person appointed will be energetic and innovative and ideally have successful experience of management in a residential context. S/he will contribute to the College's mission of advancing international education and understanding. It may be possible to combine this post with some part-time employment.

Assistant Librarian

This is a full-time post in the Academic Resources Centre (Anne Dreydel House), to assist and deputise for the Senior Librarian. The Academic Resources Centre (35,000 books, IT and audio visual resources) opened in 1995. Experience of library work and strong IT skills essential. We are looking for a qualified librarian, preferably with 2-3 years experience in education. Hours 35 hours per week, including occasional evenings and weekends. Job Description can be viewed here.

Starting salary within the range £15,053 - £17,416 per annum to be linked to an established scale. Contributory pension and other benefits.

Summer Vacancies 2004

St. Clare's, Oxford runs a busy programme of summer courses from late June to end of August. Our courses are largely residential English language courses for international students: young adults and children. We also have an International Baccalaureate Summer Institute offering courses over a 3-week period from the end of July. To this end we are seeking to recruit EFL teaching professionals, academic subject teachers (IB) and other support staff to work for periods of *2 - 9 weeks.

  • NB. some posts require staff to live in residence
  • *shorter periods are possible on the IB summer institute
