Job Description
We are looking for a responsible, enthusiastic and reliable manager who will take initiative in motivating our students and who will be committed to providing a quality programme always having the students' best interests in mind. The Assistant Activity Director reports to the Director of English Language Courses for contractual matters and to the Activity Director for specific day-to-day duties.
Assistant Activity Director profile
This is a key role. The Assistant Activity Director, together with the Duty Manager and Activity Director, is a front-line summer course representative for visiting agents, parents, group leaders and students. We are looking for an individual who has strong presence and who is prepared to be fully committed to the overall success of our courses during this period. Preferably you will be qualified as a teacher and/or sports instructor in one or more disciplines. Minimum requirement: with work experience of a similar nature with experience/special ability in the following areas: sports; drama; arts and crafts; knowledge of local area/culture as well as proven administration skills. Candidates who hold a current first aid certificate, lifeguard qualification or driving licence (for minibus driving) are desirable.
Duties
- Attendance at briefing/planning session two days before contract commences
- Under the direction of the on-site Activity Director to work a 6-day week in flexible shifts.
- Excursions: to assist with planning of, and to implement, set excursions. During the excursion to act as a guide, keep all monies and receipts, and take care of the students at all times.
- To prepare for and implement activities on the programme. This may involve buying materials for which you will be reimbursed against receipts, confirming bookings/times of activities, poster-making, liaising with, and securing the co-operation of, teaching staff.
- Attending regular (in some cases daily) staff meetings.
- Taking a lead in office duty and administration where required.
- Being on duty on course arrival and departure days to assist with airport duty or administration at the course centre, as required.
Term of Employment
From Saturday 17 June - Friday 18 August 2006, or part thereof, as agreed at time of appointment.
