Academic Summer Programme as part of the Liberal Arts Programme at St. Clare's, Oxford
St. Clare's is an international college located in one of the most vibrant centres of culture and learning in Europe. Study and live with students from all around the world while earning 3 or 6 units of transferable credit. Our summer courses make the most of Oxford's rich history and resources.

St. Clare's has offered the Liberal Arts programme for university undergraduates and gap year students for over 40 years, and has long-standing links to a number of US universities. Our academic staff cover a wide range of subjects and teach at many of the University of Oxford colleges.

Summer Course Choices:

  1. Oxford Art and Architecture (art history, 3 credits)
  2. English Civil War (history, 3 credits)
  3. Terrorism (politics, 3 credits)
  4. European Ideas: Enlightenment to Romanticism (philosophy, 3 credits)
  5. Philosophy of the Imagination in Oxford (philosophy, 3 credit)
  6. Shakespeare (English literature, 3 credits)
  7. Gothic Fiction (English literature, 3 credits)
  8. The Oxford of Literature (English literature, 3 credits)
  9. Travel Writing (English literature, 3 credits)
  10. Eastern Religions (religion, 3 credits)
St. Clare's will complete all paper work associated with credit transfer. Please note that if your school does not accept St. Clare's credit, your credits will be transferred through our University of Record in the USA. This option carries an additional fee of $150 non-refundable processing fee.

Fees include:

  • Return airport transfers London Heathrow to Oxford
  • Welcome and departure dinner
  • Two accompanied trips to London and Bath / Stonehenge
  • Free internet access (all St. Clare's buildings are wireless)
  • One free theatre ticket plus transportation to either Stratford upon Avon or the Globe Theatre in London
  • Full orientation including walking tour of Oxford and St. Clare's facilities
  • Accommodation in St. Clare's residence: twin superior rooms with private shower and toilet. All college houses have a resident House Manager; fully equipped kitchen facilities; laundry facilities; bed linen and towels are provided; College residences are located within a 15 minute walk or a short bus ride away. Alternatively homestay accommodation can be arranged.
  • Meals can be purchased in our college dining room
