Girls' basketball match success

Match report by Francisco Marulanda, (Basketball Coach)

St. Clare's 70, Headington School 4

St. Clare's started the game with a full court pressure, which Headington was unable to handle and gave the ball away time and time again. It was rare when St. Clare's had to run or chase the ball back within their own half. Once St. Clare's worked out that Headington was unable to pass the ball under pressure, the game was over. At the half St. Clare's was 36 - 0.

During the second half St Clare's called the press off, but instead they played player-to-player half court, which was equally effective, but allowed Headington to take a little longer and more freedom to bring the ball up. This freedom made no real difference to the overall performance of the team or the outcome of the game.

Well done to St. Clare's Girls Basketball, which is showing that consistency, hard work and unity as a team makes a difference.
