International evening

Well done to the Student Council for their organisation of a very good ‘International Evening'. Hosted by Laura Blanco and Wojciech Bachalski the evening included a wide variety of song, dance and sketches with an international theme. The Hall was full and the audience enjoyed the show as well as the excellent international meal served in the Dining Hall (dishes from Germany, China, Albania, Switzerland and Italy) and the nice desserts and sweets prepared for the interval of the show by both the Student Council and the Invisible Children fundraising group. Over £500 has been raised by this event and the money all goes to charity. Thank you to everyone in the audience of over 200 people – staff and students, who attended and supported the event.

• Yishen Liu – singing “You Raise Me Up”
• Victor Sulakvelidze and Alikhan Rakhimbayev – playing the guitar “Cheap Blues”
• Lana Estemirova – playing the guitar and singing a “national song in Chechnya”
• Wojciech Bahalshi on piano
• Salsa Group dancing – Nik, Sergey, Bota and Aigerim
