St. Clare's played host this week to renowned actress
Miriam Margolyes, perhaps
best known for her role as
Professor Sprout in the Harry Potter films.
Miriam grew up downstairs at 159 Banbury Road in the 1940s and returned to her
childhood home to film a piece for the BBC's One Show. House 159 is now one of
the college's student residences for our IB students.
As well as her recent fame through Harry Potter, you might also have seen Miriam
acting alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in
Romeo and Juliet and as Mrs Mingott in
The Age
Of Innocence for which she won a BAFTA in 1993. She also lent her voice to Happy Feet,
Flushed Away and Fly the sheepdog in the Babe films.
