Devised and developed by the Diploma teachers at St. Clare's, these unique courses enable students to refine and develop their knowledge, understanding and study skills in preparation for the final year of their IB Diploma programme. The IB review course provides a means for students to experience a bit of ‘life as a student' and to spend time in some of the university colleges.

The course provides an opportunity for students to review their progress during the first year of Diploma studies and to identify and address any areas of weakness. The number of places is limited to 30 students per week. The teaching programme will be tailored as far as possible to the needs of individual students, on the basis of the information submitted with their initial application for a place.

Each week the teaching programme includes a total of 18 hours detailed as follows:

  • formal subject classes (10 hours)
  • seminars with subject specialist (2 hours)
  • individual tutorials with an experienced IB tutor (1 hour)
  • IB lectures (eg. TOK, International affairs) (1 hour)
  • a study trip / excursion / university lecture (3 hours)
  • an interview with a university admissions/career adviser (1 hour)
IB Diploma review students can choose to study from 1 to 4 weeks; they choose one subject per week.
