St. Clare's, Oxford - 1 Bicester Community School (BCC) - 4

The boys' football team were defeated in the semi final of the Oxfordshire Schools league last Friday by Bicester Community School (BCC).

Jordan Ayris, the English Schools under 18 striker scored two goals in the first 15 minutes for BCC. St. Clare's were struggling to keep possession in the middle and final third despite the hard work by Janez Kosec and Marco Ferrari. Daniel Galalae came close to scoring after some good defensive work by Arved Pohlabeln. Lodovico Castelli's substitution resulted in a reshuffle with James Cavalot joining Giulio Zuccoli in the centre of defence. BCC scored a third on the half hour mark. Tito Gutierrez scored a penalty shortly afterwards and the last five minutes belonged to St. Clare's.

St. Clare's started the better team in the second half but could not get that ball into the Bicester net. Bledar Noka came so close to scoring after a fine free kick by Giulio Zuccoli. St. Clare's were awarded three more free kicks in promising positions with no success. St. Clare's were fortunate to be awarded a second penalty after a foul on Bledar Noka. However Giulio Zuccoli failed to scored.

St. Clare's have no complaints about the final result. BCC are well organised and will be difficult to beat in the final. Their opponents are Oxford Cherwell Valley College.

This is the second time that St. Clare's have qualified for the semi final. Marlborough school, Woodstock won 3 -1 in 2009.
