Japanese students end with impromptu concert
We were delighted to welcome a large group from Kanagawa University High School to college during the last
week of term. Especially this year, after the earthquake, tsunami and aftershocks in Japan, it was a pleasure
to welcome them to Oxford and to the hectic programme at St. Clare's.
It's amazing how much they fit into their short visit: they stay with local host families, focus on practising
their English in the mornings, and participate in a range of Study Visits and excursions in the afternoons. For
the first time this year the programme (English plus Art) was supplemented by a music session in college followed
by evensong at Christ Church Cathedral.
The display of artwork (‘mediaeval panels' using egg tempera and gold leaf) and the rendition of 'Gloria In Excelsis
Deo' (in four-part harmony) on the last morning brought the course to a fitting conclusion.
