English For Everyday Use

Course dates and lengths
From September to mid-June From mid-June to end August
Courses generally start each month and can last for a term or more, depending on your entry level and needs.
Age: 17+
There are seven entry points during the summer and courses last between 2 and 11 weeks.
Age: 18+

Course options

  • Everyday English: 21 lessons per week in small groups (maximum 12)
  • Combination English: 20 lessons per week : 15 in small groups and 5 in private lessons
  • Personal Language training: 15, 20 or 25 private lessons per week or up to 5 as add-ons

Course structure
Classes in the mornings (15 lessons per week) focus on developing greater accuracy and greater fluency in the use of English. Lessons incorporate the four skills - reading, writing, listening and speaking - as well as the building-blocks of the language - grammar and vocabulary.

Classes in the afternoons (6 lessons per week) are based on student choice. A wide range of 'English in Context' options is available each week. Popular examples include:

  • Speaking, Listening and Pronunciation
  • Grammar, Vocabulary and Collocation
  • English 'out and about' in Oxford
  • English for Business and Work
  • Popular Music and Film
Combination English

Classes in the mornings (15 lessons per week) focus on developing greater accuracy and greater fluency in the use of English. They incorporate the four skills, reading, writing, listening and speaking, as well as the building-blocks of the language, grammar and vocabulary.

Classes in the afternoons (5 lessons per week) are one-to-one with your own teacher. This is an excellent way to focus specifically on your needs and interests. It is highly recommended for boosting your confidence in speaking in the shortest possible time.

Personal Language Training

You can always add some one-to-one lessons each week to your standard programme.

These private lessons are a great opportunity to build your conversational skills or to prepare for an examination like IELTS.
