Graduation was celebrated with style and enthusiasm on Saturday 24 May at St. Clare’s in Oxford. The Class of 2014 started their celebrations with a party in London on a cruise boat, The Pride of London which sailed up and down the Thames while everyone had dinner and danced.
Graduation Day itself consisted of a number of events including a musical concert with performances by students from both year groups and an art exhibition curated by IB2 students. Lunch was an informal al fresco affair with a jazz band playing in the background as parents, students and staff enjoyed getting together in the College gardens whilst enjoying some extraordinarily good food.
The formal part of the day consisted of speeches and the presentation of awards in the marquee where 120 students received their graduation certificates. Speeches were delivered by Paula Holloway, the College Principal, and Tom Walsh, Vice Principal. In addition, Mr. Cornelis van den Heuvel spoke on behalf of the parents and Marcella Montagnese represented the students. This year there was a special award to Tom Walsh who leaves St. Clare’s to take up his new position as Principal of St. Gilgen International School – the Chair of Governors, Richard Dick, paid tribute to Tom’s contribution to the success of the College.
