To familiarise our new students with the beautiful city of Oxford, our International College has set them The Oxford Passport Challenge, which consists of the following challenges:
Dine at an Oxford College - They've already done this, at the International College Welcome Dinner, held at The Queen's College last week. A delicious meal with great company!
Find this 'Oxford in 1771' location - do you know where this is?
Climb the 127 steps to the top of the University Church - It's a lot of steps, but the view is outstanding; photos are recommended!
Visit Blackwell's Bookshop - enjoy a book or a coffee (or both!) in this stunning bookshop that just oozes 'Oxford'. The world famous Norrington Room is definitely worth a visit!
Enjoy a walk by the river, canal or in Port Meadow - Oxford has some stunning walks, and picking a beautiful day will make the experience even better!
Find the pre-Raphaelite paintings in this Art Gallery - The Ashmolean is one of the oldest museums in the world, and home to some stunning pieces of art and archaeology. It's an absolute must if you're in Oxford.
Stroll around a park in Autumn - Autumn in Oxford is just breathtaking, and with stunning parks such as the Botanic Gardens, University Parks or South Park, it's a wonderful and peaceful way to spend time.
Buy a biscuit, coffee or pasty from the Covered Market - A wonderful place, with delicious food and beautiful gifts, the Covered Market is somewhere the students will want to keep going back to!
Have a go at punting from the 'Oxford End' - Punting is a hugely enjoyable activity that is quintessentially 'Oxford'. A great way for students to spend time with their friends
Identify a film location - Oxford's history, beauty and reputation for academic excellence makes it an ideal location for film and television. Detective series Inspector Morse and Lewis are both filmed here, as, of course was Harry Potter.
They are the challenges. The students have until the 8th October to complete as many as they can, obtaining a stamp for each one. Every student who completes their passport will be given a prize at a tea party on the 9th October.
