The International College offers a wide range of courses throughout the year, and operates across two broad business streams, which include:
English as a Foreign Language (EFL)
The College offers a range of pure EFL or EFL hybrid courses throughout the academic year (September to mid-June). These include: the
University Foundation Course and
English plus Academic Subjects, both of which combine the study of EFL/EAP and academic subjects, and lead to university entrance; and
English for Everyday Use and
English for Examinations, which improve language skills, boost confidence and offer English qualifications for university and beyond.
EFL Summer Short Courses operate between mid-June and the end of August for students aged 18+. Summer courses for teenagers aged 15-17 and juniors aged 10-15 are available at other St Clare’s teaching centres.
Liberal Arts programme
This caters mainly for American undergraduates who follow a variety of academic courses for one semester, starting in September or January. Students who are non-native speakers of English may also join the Liberal Arts programme provided that their command of academic written and spoken English is at a very high level. In addition, tailor-made courses for closed groups are available in January, May and June.
St. Clare’s, Oxford is authorized by the International Baccalaureate Organisation to offer the IB Diploma. We are the longest-established IB World School in England, and there are only 13 schools in the world that have been teaching the IB Diploma for longer than us.
The English Language courses at St. Clare’s are accredited by the British Council, the UK’s international organization for educational opportunities and cultural relations.
St. Clare’s is a member of the Independent Schools Association.

St. Clare’s is a member of English UK, the national association of accredited English Language centres, and the world’s leading language teaching association. We were a founder member of ARELS, one of English UK’s predecessors.

St. Clare’s is the Oxford member of the International Association of Language Centres, a global network of high-quality, independent language schools that teach the official language of their country.
The British Accreditation Council accredits St. Clare’s, and is widely recognised as the most experienced, rigorous and independent accreditation service for the private education sector.
The University of San Diego has worked in partnership with St. Clare’s for more than 30 years as the University of Record for our Liberal Arts Programme.
Our Scholars Programme is a joint initiative between St. Clare’s and Blackfriars Hall, a private permanent Hall of Oxford University, governed by the English Dominican Friars.
In December 2012, St. Clare’s signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Kazakh British Technical University in Almaty, Kazakhstan, offering a unique chance for KBTU students to earn credits while studying at St. Clare’s.
