University Foundation Course

The University Foundation Course provides in-depth preparation for university. The course consists of two main elements:
English Language study + Academic subjects
This foundation programme is designed for students who wish to:
  • prepare and apply for study on an undergraduate course at a UK university
  • prepare for study at any other university where undergraduate courses are taught in English
  • spend a year improving their English Language and study skills and acquiring subject knowledge in preparation for future studies

Entry requirements

Students wishing to enrol on the University Foundation Course must:
  • have successfully completed secondary school in their own country
  • be 17 years or over;
  • have a knowledge of English at or above the following:
    • IELTS score 5.0 or equivalent for entry in September;
      Equivalent = TOEFL iBT (internet-based test) 60+
    • IELTS score 5.5 or equivalent for entry in November.
      Equivalent = TOEFL iBT (internet-based test) 70+

Course structure

Course content
Both courses follow a combination of English Language and academic subjects. The programme consists of two broad streams - you choose either the Business Studies or International Affairs stream. These subjects are taught at pre-university level by subject specialists who bring the benefits of the latest research in their own areas of expertise.
