The Practical science course is specifically designed for students who want to continue to study science after they are 15. You will be able to develop your practical investigative skills and you will improve the level of your English language in the context of a school laboratory.

Science in Oxford prepares you for further study in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics
Scientific academic teaching: Our academic activities focus on a weekly theme around the subjects of Biology, Chemistry, and Physics
Develop specialist knowledge: After an initial introduction on practical science and language, our course can be tailored to your needs, as you can select from specialising in Biology, Chemistry or Physics
Prepare for further academic study: You will develop practical investigative skills in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics whilst improving your English language fluency and vocabulary in science
Study environment: You will learn in state-of-the-art laboratories where you will use specialist equipment like data logging machines and microscopes
Laboratory experience: We will introduce observational techniques. You will also learn how to measure, control variables, record results, and evaluate conclusions
Meet practising scientists: Our interactive learning approach includes talks from inspirational guest speakers, who are making advancements in the Scientific field
Academic support: We have a high staff to student ratio, which means that our classrooms are a supportive and nurturing environment
Stimulating excursions to places of scientific interest: We connect the classroom with the academic city of Oxford, so you can become inspired by study visits to Natural History Museum, Pitt Rivers Museum, History of Science Museum, and the Botanical Gardens
Scientific research: You will create a personal research project on an area of scientific interest. We encourage an investigative approach to this project; you will initiate experiments and use your improved language skills and scientific vocabulary to present your findings
Inspiring activities: Our varied study programme enables you to learn more about Oxford and other places nearby, including various World Heritage sites as well as visits to London.
