Language level: English as a first language, or strong C1 or above, or IELTS 7.5
Teaching experience: No teaching experience required
Course length: 4 weeks (CELTA 2023 Term Dates)
Start dates: 23 April, 2 July, 6 August, 10 September, 15 October and 19 November 2023
Maximum class size: 12 students
Course hours: 120 hours
Teaching method: Face-to-face learning
Tuition fees: £1500 (All fees include Cambridge English fees)

What is CELTA?

Application process

The application procedure is as follows:

  • Complete online booking form (using ‘Book Now’ button above)
  • Admissions Registrar to send information for applicants, application form, pre-interview task, short English language test (if required)
  • Applicant returns materials to CELTA@stclares.ac.uk
  • Interview with Course Tutor and short writing task
  • Offer of place decision is made and communicated to applicant
  • Deposit and registration fee to paid
  • Course confirmation letter and invoice will be sent out

Course requirements

Candidates are required to:

  • Attend the whole course
  • Write 4 course assignments 
  • Complete 6 hours of observation of experienced teachers

  • Private study space for CELTA trainees
  • Teacher Training Library
  • Course materials – We have a wide range of course materials that can be borrowed for your lesson planning and observed teaching practice
  • Reading list – You will be issued with a short pre-course reading list. This includes books which should be bought by you
  • Syllabus – The CELTA syllabus and other information is available from Cambridge English
