Admission depends on the following factors for all students:
to apply for the University Foundation Course, you need to:

Academic year dates 2006 / 2007
St. Clare's University Foundation Course runs for a full academic year from end August / beginning September to mid June. It is made up of a two-semester system. The first semester runs from early September to mid-December, with a one-week mid-semester break. The second semester runs from early January to mid-June, with a two-week break around Easter, and a long weekend in February. Entry to the course is only once a year, at the start of the academic year which is the end of August / beginning of September.

Payment of fees & deposit
Application must be accompanied by the following fee and deposit:

The registration fee and deposit should be paid in £ pounds Sterling either by: • credit / debit card • or bank transfer

Accommodation Fees 2006
The Accommodation fees are charged in two parts - Autumn Semester 2006 and Spring Semster 2007. At present, only the Autumn Semester 2006 fees have been confirmed and published. Please contact our Sales Team - email:lib-arts@stclares.ac.uk - for more information about the Accommodation fees for Spring Semester 2007. The new fees will be available from June 2006.

Travel Insurance Premium Please note: all students must be covered by the St. Clare's Travel Insurance for the full duration of the course. The Travel Insurance Premium is mandatory. Please contact the Senior Courses Office for details about the premium and scope of cover.

Optional college weekend trips / theatre visits / excursions, etc. Day excursions at weekends - £20 to £25 (though some are free of charge) Theatre tickets and transport - £10 to £30 Weekend trip with overnight stay (2 nights) - £70 to £300

Some course elements may incur additional cost: Examination fees Fees for the following examinations are currently between approximately £30- £150. Please refer to Senior Courses Office for details. Entry and fees are due about 3 months before the exam date. Cambridge examinations CAE Certificate in Advanced English CPE Certificate of Proficiency in English Other examinations IELTS (for further study in the UK)

General spending money Allow around - £60 per week Remember, key deposit, police registration (for students from countries outside the EU) and book purchase all need to be paid for in the first week

Terms & conditions
Please read our Terms and Conditions of enrolment before registering for this Course. Travel Insurance is mandatory for all University Foundation Course students and is charged extra. For full details of the extent of the cover of the St. Clare's Travel Insurance and the exclusions please request to see the Certificate of Insurance, the Summary of Cover and the Frequently Asked Questions document, which are available from the Senior Courses Office.

Methods of payment

1. You can pay by credit or debit card - we accept the following cards

If you have paid your deposit by credit or debit card, then you may also pay the balance of fees using the same credit or debit card, 3 weeks before arrival. With your permission we will debit your card for the balance of fees at the right time. Note: Please note a surcharge of 2% will be made for credit card payments above £1000 (one thousand pounds).

Alternative methods of payment

2. If you do not have a credit or debit card you may choose to pay by bank transfer*
Payments by bank transfer will only be accepted for courses booked more than 3 weeks before the start of the course.

How to apply

In order to apply for this course you must be at least 18 years old. You must also be qualified for entry to university in your own country. Your level of English must be at least the level of Cambridge First Certificate (FCE), IELTS 5.5, TOEFL 197 (computer score) or 530 (paper score).
