Background to our senior courses
Senior courses at St. Clare's include academic subject-based programmes, as well as English as a Foreign Language courses. We have many years' experience delivering the Liberal Arts programme (LA) and English language courses (EFL 18+). Senior courses also include the Advanced Studies programme (ASP) and the University Foundation course (UFC).
We offer a stimulating learning environment. All our academic programmes are delivered in small seminar-style classes or one-to-one tutorials. This enables us to be sensitive to the learning styles of our individual students.
The St. Clare's ethos and our commitment to integrate senior students enrolled on the different programmes of study distinguishes St. Clare's from other English as a foreign language providers and study abroad programmes in Oxford and the UK generally.
There are up to 125 students enrolled on the Senior Courses, and they hail from every corner of the world. St. Clare's provides non-native English speakers the opportunity to study and live with native English speakers. Our native English speaking students have real opportunities to learn from and befriend students from a broad range of nationalities.
The sharing of a common campus for Senior Courses is a recent development and has enabled us to deliver academic programmes, intellectual and social activities that truly reflect the founding ethos of St. Clare's - the duty to broaden students' horizons and advance international understanding.
