St. Clare's is able to offer comfortable and high-quality College residential
accommodation to a high proportion of students. Our houses are beautifully
situated. While all rooms are comfortable and tastefully decorated, the
settings vary between elegant Victorian houses and a modern custom-built
complex. Senior students live in 5 College
houses, located within 15 minutes' walk of our adult Bardwell Road Centre
or a short bus ride away.

All
houses have a resident house manager, a senior resident (in the case of
some smaller self-catering houses), or a member of staff on duty each
night. There are house rules intended to protect the privacy, security
and welfare of all residents. You have your own key and there are no restrictions
on when you return to the house in the evening. However, please note that
        overnight visitors are not premitted.

Bed
linen and towels are provided, and rooms are cleaned regularly. Most
houses have coin-operated washing machines and dryers for personal laundry.
Please note that all College residential accommodation is non-smoking.

        Explanation of terms used
You can choose between a twin or a single room. You can also choose a
'standard' or 'superior' room - self-catering or meals included. Here
is a helpful breakdown of what these terms mean.
Standard room - these are usually twin rooms in a shared house
or apartment where a small number of other students share a bathroom.
There are some single rooms in this category. If you select this option
you will either be assigned to one of the few standard rooms in Logan
House or to rooms in Bardwell Road.
Superior room - these are single and twin rooms with private shower
and toilet. Superior rooms are available in Logan House and Staverton
Road. These are very popular (especially the single rooms) and allocation
is on a first come, first served basis.
Single room - this means that the room, and any facilities, are
        for your exclusive use.
Twin room - this means that there are two single beds in the room,
and any facilities are for shared use between roommates.
Self-catering arrangements - we have a number of houses with fully
equipped kitchens for student use. If you select this option, you can
cook your own meals, although, if you wish, you can eat meals at College
regularly or occasionally, paying only for those meals. This option gives
        you the most flexibility.
Meals included - we have one house immediately on campus which
does not have any self-catering kitchens but does enable you to eat all
your meals in the College dining room. Breakfast, lunch and dinner Monday to Friday,
and brunch and dinner on Saturdays and Sundays are included in this meal plan price.
This option is not advisable for students who are likely to travel at weekends as no
refunds are made for missed meals.
Logan House - is a purpose-built block of apartments opened in
1996, located about 15 minutes walk from the Bardwell Road Centre. Most
of the rooms in this block are superior twins with a few singles. Students
are able to self-cater in this house or choose the meal plan. This house has a resident house manager.

Staverton Road - there are two small and intimate college houses with superior
rooms located just 10 minutes walk from the Bardwell Road Centre. Students
may self-cater or choose the meal plan for these houses.
The houses have a resident house manager.
Bardwell Road - is one of our Bardwell Road Centre buildings and
offers standard single and twins rooms right on the campus! No self-catering
facilities are available at this house so all students are enrolled on
the meal plan and eat breakfast, lunch and dinner Monday to Friday,
and brunch and dinner on Saturdays and Sundays in the
College dining rooms. This house has a member of staff on duty each night.
      Residential policy at St. Clare's
Many of the benefits of international living can be experienced in our
College residences. Students from diverse cultural and national backgrounds
share houses at St. Clare's. We make every effort to ensure that any student living in one of our shared rooms
will be sharing with a student from another country. Time and time again,
we see how this generates increased appreciation and respect of different
      practices and views.
