IB students and staff visited Northern Ireland as part of the CAS programme exploring politics, geography, philosophy as well as culture and history. The group visited the Giant's Causeway and 13th century Dunluce Castle, Stormont, the Parliament Buildings of the Northern Ireland Assembly, as well as the Harland and Wolff shipyard where the Titanic was built. Visiting Derry and Belfast students were given the opportunity to learn more about the tension that still exists between the Nationalists and the Loyalists and try to gain an insight into these famous cities and their two communities. The spectacular murals of both sides explain much of the troubles of the 70s to the present day.
