What students say

Students from our Liberal Arts Programme are asked for their comments at the end of their time at St. Clare's. You might want to look at some of their comments below.

The teachers are incredibly clever and I enjoyed learning about different cultures and countries.'
Kelsey Reedy, USA

After two previous study abroad experiences in Spain and Mexico, St. Clare's was the best in terms of academics, housing and social networking. I loved Oxford's ‘small-town' feel while offering ‘big-city' opportunities.
Erin Berman, USA

I really valued the balance between the coursework and the chance to travel. My classes were incredible with amazing professors and also I was able to see places I've dreamed of seeing since my childhood.
Emily Frederick, USA

Students from the US come to us for one or two semesters during the academic year as part of their study abroad programme. However, we also offer short courses in May as well as closed groups as required during the academic year. Students from Wofford College, Spartanburg, came to St. Clare's for an interim course focusing on the work of C S Lewis. The Liberal Arts Programme at St. Clare's helped build my confidence in my academic ability through the small classes and close interaction with the professors. It gave me the opportunity to live in a new culture among people from all over the world. This taught me to view situations and people with a more open perspective and enabled me to take advantage of many new opportunities.
Rebecca McClure, USA

Academically St. Clare's was completely different than any other experience. I learned by applying everything we learned in class to current events, so I was constantly interested. I still remember everything I was taught. It was fantastic!
Kerry Lynch, USA

For me, St. Clare's was a fantastic introduction into British life and culture. It was also a great addition to my resume and may have helped in my current appointment for the Financial Times newspaper in London.
Briana Dougherty, USA

Studying at St. Clare's gave me the opportunity to experience the English culture and gain a new perspective of the world and the American way of life. Living in such a dynamic environment and interacting with a diverse group of professors and students opened my mind to new ways of thinking- both on an intellectual and personal level. It strengthened my ability to rely on myself and grow as an individual. Overall, my semester at St. Clare's as been an invaluable learning experience.
Kiara Elm, USA

I can not find words powerful enough to describe my four months at St. Clare's. The friends I made from all over the world, the beautiful histories and cultures I experienced travelling Europe, the challenge of studying new subjects - and familiar subjects from a British perspective - all combined to open a new door for me on the world. Not only did I enjoy the challenges and adventures of my study-abroad semester, but I also gained some of the happiest memories of my life at St. Clare's.
Maggie Forkin, USA

The tutorial system stimulates proactive learning which certainly enhanced my academic progress as well as prepared me for my years beyond academics though sound reason and argument formation.
Mark Lewis, USA
