This is the perfect opportunity for your child to join an international summer camp and gain an early advantage in their English studies. A summer in Oxford will be great fun for your son or daughter.

This holiday course is held at our dedicated Summer Junior campus, just a ten minute bus ride from the main St. Clare's Banbury Road Campus and the centre of Oxford. The campus is a private school during the academic year and is surrounded by private grounds and is a safe place for our younger students to live, study and enjoy. There are grass playing fields, tennis courts, pleasant woodland, a heated outdoor swimming pool, sports hall, theatre and gardens. Our juniors share comfortable bedrooms in school houses.

St. Clare’s has an international reputation for providing a first class educational experience and every year students from more than twenty countries take part in our summer courses.

  1. Programmes are specifically designed for juniors aged 10 – 15.
  2. They operate from mid July to mid August, for courses of 3 or 6 weeks.
  3. They combine a valuable educational experience with a stimulating programme of activities, sports and excursions.
  • The Director of Studies tests students on the first Sunday and arranges groups according to age and language level.
  • Teachers create a vibrant learning environment in which lessons inside the classroom are linked to the programme of excursions outside.
  • Visits to museums such as the Natural History Museum in London or to sights such as Stonehenge or Windsor Castle are a part of the cultural and educational experience – preparation before the visit and follow-up activities afterwards enhance the learning for your child.
  • Youngsters gain confidence during their course and quickly learn to communicate in English more accurately and fluently.
  • Progress is monitored discreetly by the teacher and the Director of Studies and regular feedback is provided.
  • There is a special ceremony on the last morning of the course when Certificates and Reports are presented by the teachers and Course Director.
  • Teachers are selected for their expertise with this younger age-group and ensure that learning is both rewarding and fun at the same time.
  • Morning lessons focus on using the English language in a wide range of situations including introductions to new friends, language games, songs, art, storytelling, speaking with puppets and postcards to friends.
  • Afternoon lessons encourage the children to ‘learn through doing' – diaries and logs, treasure trails, group magazines, etc.
  • There is a supportive learning environment in which the Director of Studies receives regular reports from the teachers on each child's performance and monitors progress at all times.
  • Your child will gain a confidence in using English which will remain with them for the rest of their lives.
