Exam Results

St. Clare's is pleased to announce that students have succeeded in gaining another year of excellent exam results. In May 2012 109 students took the International Baccalaureate Diploma resulting in a 99% pass rate.

The following are the highlights of this year's results.

  • A total of 99% passed the IB Diploma in 2012. This has to be put in the context of the world-wide average pass rate for all schools and colleges which is less than 80% making the achievements of our students even more significant.
  • One student achieved 45 points, the perfect score, the equivalent of 5 A* at A Level, a result achieved by only 0.2 % of all students who take the Diploma, world-wide, each year. This student will be studying Economics at Cambridge University.
  • Two students achieved 44 points and five students gained 43 points.
  • Twenty-four students achieved 40 points or over, the equivalent of 4 x grade A* at A Level
  • The average 2012 student score of 35.1 is equivalent to more than 3 A* grades at A Level or 4 grade A's at A Level. This represents the second best set of results which the College has ever achieved
  • This is the 10th consecutive year in which students at St. Clare's have achieved 45 points.
St. Clare's fosters an educational environment in which young people choose to work hard. I am extremely happy to see that their hard work has paid off, both for the individual students, who need good grades to get into the university of their choice, and for the people who have supported and encouraged them during their time at St. Clare's - Paula Holloway, Principal of St Clare's Oxford
