St. Clare's students are welcomed by institutions all over the world, and during their two years at St. Clare's they are well prepared for university entry and given guidance and support in the application process.
- Each year about 110 students from St. Clare's enter universities in the UK, USA and elsewhere.
- Around 75% enter British universities, mainly those considered premier or highly selective. These include Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial College London, St. Andrews, University College London, Warwick, London School of Economics and Edinburgh.
- On average 8-10 students enter universities in the USA, including premier universities such as Cornell, Boston, Haverford, Reed and Yale.
- Other students enter highly regarded universities in a variety of countries, such as Canada, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Russia, Japan and Kazakhstan.
Most students start university immediately while a small proportion choose to develop their personal skills and interests by taking a 'gap year' in which to travel, work or volunteer and thus improve their career prospects prior to contining in education.
Students in the class of 2012 applied far and wide and have been successful in taking places at prestigious universities around the world. This has been a year of excellent results, which has ensured success for our students, particularly at a time when competition is strong.

Universities in the United States
Of the roughly 100 students who graduated with the International Baccalaureate Diploma in 2012 most applied to UK universites but some did choose to continue their studies in universities and colleges in the United States. Of those who chose US universities it is pleasing that 5 out of the 8 students gained entry to their first choice institution.
The universities are listed below along with their position in US universities league table:
- 2 to Pennsylvania State University, both to do engineering (for which Pennsylvania State is ranked #16)
- 1 to New York University (ranked #32 in National Universities)
- 1 to Northeastern University in Boston (ranked #56 although this student was invited to join their prestigious and much more competitive Honors Program)
- 1 to University of Richmond (ranked as a Liberal Arts College, #28)
- 1 to Barnard College, part of Columbia University in New York (ranked as a Liberal Arts College, also ranked #28)
- 1 to Xavier University in Ohio
- 1 to Parsons the New School For Design (in New York)
