The first episode of “The Insider” has just been published. “The Insider” is a new podcast created by our International Baccalaureate students. The podcast series seeks to find out more about teachers and gain unique insights on things they have learned on their career journey. In the first episode of a new series Pietra, Luna and Umberto interview our principal Andy Rattue.

In the interview Andy provides an overview of his career path and advice to those seeking to become a principal. He talks about what he thinks makes a good teacher, gives us a glimpse into his day to day role and offers helpful advice to our current students:

“You’ll probably find that in fifteen years’ time, you’ll be doing something you didn’t expect to be doing, I can guarantee you that’ll be the case. It’s going to be a life where things take you in unexpected directions, which has got to be a good thing, because if you planned everything it would be very dull. Planning is important, and you make your own luck [but] you can’t plan everything because unexpected things happen.”

The podcast is completely student-led as a part of the Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) experience. Our CAS programme aims to give students a more rounded education by getting them involved in new experiences which include over 50 extra-curricular activities. It also enables them to take time to reflect upon and evaluate those experiences.

Stay tuned for future episodes as our students endeavour to interview more to discover what they do to make the St Clare’s experience so unique.
