Making traditional bows
The Bow Making project was a student-led Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS) initiative which challenged students to develop new skills.
This CAS project was a collaborative experience which encouraged students to demonstrate teamwork through the exchange of ideas and by assigning roles based on abilities. As part of the challenge they started a fire using flint and steel, cooked marshmallows and sweet bread, and shot arrows from their newly created bows.
The Bow Making CAS Project challenged students to show initiative, demonstrate perseverance, and develop skills such as those of cooperation, problem-solving and decision-making.
One of the students reflected “planning and safety instructions helped me to identify my strengths.”
