Scholarships and Bursaries for the International Baccalaureate Diploma

2002 Entry
St Clare's offers a number of academic scholarships and bursaries to students who would benefit from and contribute to the academic and social life of this lively international community.

We fund the equivalent of at least FIVE new full scholarships (covering residence and tuition) each year. Awards are made on the basis of academic ability, likely general contribution to the College, and financial need. All awards run for the two years of the course, although renewal for the second year is subject to satisfactory performance and conduct. Two awards are designated as Anne Dreydel Foundation Scholarships.

Scholarships are awarded to students of exceptional ability, while Bursaries may be awarded to students who, while not outstanding, would benefit from and make a considerable contribution to College life.

There are two separate rounds for award of scholarships and bursaries for 2002.

Round One
  • Restricted to UK-based applicants
  • Decisions announced by 7 December 2001
  • Maximum award: 50% of fees
  • Round Two
  • Open to UK-based and overseas applicants
  • Requires attendance at our Scholarship Day in Oxford
  • on Saturday 9 February 2002
  • Maximum award: Full fees (for UK-based and British students)
  • Decisions announced late February/March 2002
  • Preliminary visits / Informal open evenings

Candidates and/or parents are welcome to make preliminary visits. Please arrange these with the Admissions Office.

We are holding two informal open evenings which may be of interest to prospective parents and students on

    Tuesday 13 November 2001

    and

    Thursday 17 January 2002

    from 19.30 to 21.00.

These are not specifically open evenings for prospective parents and students as such, but more informal and primarily social gatherings, to which we have invited local friends and acquaintances to join staff and students for drinks and refreshments. There will be an opportunity to look around the College, and the Principal will give a short talk about the College and its International Baccalaureate Diploma programme at 20.00.

If you would like to join us for one of these evenings, please call Nicola Gerring on 01865 517332, or reply by e-mail to principal@stclares.ac.uk giving details of people who would like to attend.
