First year students should have returned home with a transcript which
shows a record of progress on the course so far.
During the Spring Term
- Work continued on syllabuses and in some subjects
started on the Internal Assessment requirements for the IB
- Interim Exams in March were used to check on the
progress of all students. Some parents will receive a separate letter
or fax where we have concerns
- Students were given information on Extended Essays,
and should have started work on theirs
- At a Higher Education and Careers Day, students
were given information on options for after the IB. They should have
started to make their plans for the future by seeing Paul Lennon, Higher
Education and Careers Advisor, or Jay Bosworth, who deals with applications
to the USA.
During the Summer Term
- There are Field Trips for Geography H, Biology,
and Ecosystems & Societies. Normal lessons continue for those students
who are not away on a trip
- Year Exams take place at the end of May. These
are based on the whole year's work, and are an important check on student
progress
- St Clare's is pleased to again act as hosts for
the UK IB Schools and Colleges Association (IBSCA) conference, for which
we will welcome students from other IB schools in Britain
- Work continues right up to the end of term. Students
will not be given permission to leave early
- All Parents are invited to Parents' Day on Friday
11 June. There will be a chance to meet your son / daughter's teachers
and Personal Tutor, and to catch up with events and plans at St Clare's
- We hope that as many parents as possible are able
to come on that day, but all parents are welcome to visit at any time.
During the Summer Holiday
This is an important time in which as well as having a holiday students
should plan to:
- Perhaps join our Summer Institute for revision
/ review of the year's work
- Work on the Extended Essay
- Improve foreign language skills by staying in the
country concerned, on a course or with a family.
