our houses

We have fifteen College houses for IB students. Formerly family houses, they accommodate between 7 and 25 students, mostly aged between 15 and 20.

  • Each house has its own welcoming atmosphere
  • All houses are very close to the central campus
  • Separate houses for male and female students
  • Each house has a resident warden responsible for the welfare and care of students, and for maintaining house rules
  • Weekly and fully residential arrangements are available
  • House rules differ slightly for students, by age
  • Two houses (the Woodstock houses) are designated for younger students (15-16 years old). The wardens arrange a special programme of house activities and provide a greater degree of supervision
  • Most rooms are twin rooms with some singles, usually for second year IB students
  • Meals are provided in the dining room or the Sugar House café
  • Accommodation available during half term breaks, by arrangement
Day students are very welcome. Each one is a member of a residential house which they can use during the day. Day student fees include breakfast, lunch and evening meals between Monday and Friday.

Welfare

  • Each student has a Personal Tutor who has particular responsibility for oversight of welfare and progress
  • Students have an individual weekly meeting with Personal Tutors
  • Programme of personal, social, and health education
  • Welfare team includes Vice Principal, Dean of Students, Wardens and Student Services Officer
  • Small classes with very favourable staff-student ratios
  • Termly reports to parents
  • Parents' meetings scheduled, and by arrangement. E-mail has proved very useful for regular communication
Our inspection results can be viewed online on the Ofsted website.
